#Tesla is at a critical technical crossroads following its powerful rally earlier this week.
After surging on Monday and Tuesday, #TSLA opened Wednesday near $408 but failed to sustain its momentum, closing at $404.22 (it was down at ~$397 at some point).
Today, shares are trading even lower, slipping back below a crucial resistance level as the broader market comes under pressure following $GOOGL’s disappointing earnings reaction.
*
The big question now: is Tesla beginning a major bullish breakout toward $555, or is this a classic bull trap that could trigger a sharp decline toward $340?
In this Short video, we explain why Friday’s weekly close could determine Tesla’s direction for the next several weeks and potentially the next six months.
*
The critical battleground has been the $393.61–$403.79 area.
These two levels represent major weekly channel boundaries, and Tesla’s ability to hold above them will determine whether the recent rally has genuine staying power.
A weekly close above $393.61 would keep the bullish scenario alive, but we want to see something stronger: a decisive settlement above $403.79.
That would confirm a breakout through both major resistance levels and strengthen the case for upward continuation through the remainder of 2026 and into the first quarter of 2027.
Under that scenario, Tesla could eventually reach $554.74, the upper boundary of its six-year technical channel, within approximately six months.
*
But there’s a major risk.
If Tesla closes FRIDAY BELOW $393.61, the entire breakout could turn into a classic failed buy signal.
The recent rally may have squeezed short sellers and attracted aggressive momentum buyers, only to leave those new longs trapped if the stock reverses.
A breakdown below $393.61, particularly alongside the daily-chart levels at $396.47 and $398.11, would signal that sellers have regained control.
This could trigger a two-to-three-week sell signal, with downside targets in the $340.26–$355.27 support zone.
That’s potentially a 12%–16% decline from Wednesday’s close.
*
On the upside, the next important resistance area is $420.22–$421.88. This is a reasonable zone for traders to trim long positions and take profits after the recent rally.
However, a sustained close above the low $420s would provide another powerful confirmation of strength, potentially opening the door to $498.83 within two to three months, followed by the longer-term $554.74 objective.
*
What if Tesla closes Friday BETWEEN $393.61 and $403.79?
Then the market remains undecided. Rather than forcing a trade, we would wait for a confirmed breakout or breakdown next week.
*
So, Tesla’s rally has reached a make-or-break moment.
Above $403.79, the bullish path toward $500–$555 becomes increasingly compelling.
Below $393.61, the failed breakout could unleash aggressive selling toward $340–$355.
Friday’s close is the key. The next major move could be substantial in either direction.
